Did Anyone Win the $22 Million Mega Millions Jackpot on 9/28/2021? Numbers and Results

Publish date: 2024-07-11

The results of the Mega Millions lottery game for September 28, offering a jackpot prize of $22 million, with a cash-value option of $15.4 million, were revealed on Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET.

The numbers drawn last night were 18, 30, 43, 68 and 69 for the white balls, while the yellow Mega Ball was 22 and the Megaplier was 4x.

The latest game saw no jackpot winners. However, one lucky ticket holder in New York took home the second prize, which is valued at $1 million, after correctly matching all the white balls. The winner did not purchase the Megaplier for an extra $1, which would have raised their prize to $4 million.

Nine ticket holders matched four white balls and the Mega Ball, winning them each $10,000. Three of the winners bought the Megaplier, which earned them each $40,000.

There were 224 ticket holders who matched four white balls, which earned them each $500, with 48 of them each earning the Megaplier prize of $2,000.

The game also had 544 winners who matched three white balls, each winning $200, with 116 of those winners each earning the Megaplier prize of $800.

The next Mega Millions drawing will be on Friday, October 1, at 11 p.m. ET, for an estimated jackpot prize of $34 million, with a cash-value option of $23.7 million.

Last Friday's drawing also saw no grand prize winner but three players—two in New Hampshire and one in Pennsylvania—matched the first five white balls to win the game's second prize of $1 million. None of the second prize winners purchased the Megaplier option, which would have raised each of their earnings to $3 million.

How to Play Mega Millions

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET. Five white balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70, while one yellow Mega Ball is drawn from balls numbered 1 through 25. You win if the numbers on your lottery ticket match the numbers of the balls drawn on that date.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 per play. If no one wins the jackpot prize, the money is added to the top prize for the following drawing.

Most states offer a Megaplier option, which costs an additional $1 per play and increases non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five times. Before each Mega Millions drawing on Tuesdays and Fridays, the Megaplier is drawn from a pool of 15 balls. Five of these balls are marked with 2X, six with 3X, three with 4X and one with 5X.

The odds of winning with a $2 Mega Millions ticket are one in 303 million. See the Mega Millions website for more information.
